Meet The Team
Our team consists of two Carers Support Officers, Fiona Forsyth and Yakini Johnson as well a full compliment of background staff.
Fiona and Yakini take the service out to different venues across Luton and can even visit Carers in their own homes if necessary.
Yakini brings a wide range of knowledge of Carers Services and the support available to carers from her previous role as a Disability Advice Service Assistant.
Yakini is a good listener with a warm personality and is very aware, and empathetic to the needs of Carers and how their caring role affects their daily life.
Yakini is a wife and mother of two children, and has been a part of the Disability Advice Service team at the Disability Resource Centre for the past two and a half years, before moving over to the Confident Carers Service.
Fiona is a qualified Midwife with a B.A. in Womens Health, and has recent qualifications in fitness and Aqua-Natal Midwifery.
Her working experience has included roles as a Midwife, a Case Manager at Stoke Mandeville National Spinal Injuries Centre and recently as a Fitness Instructor.
Working as as part of a multi-disciplinary team, Fiona helped to set-up the midwifery services at the Sure Start Children’s Centre which provides education and health courses for disadvantaged children.
Fiona is a busy mum of three children and when she gets the time is an avid reader.
